Market Background

Mexican leisure travellers are most interested in visiting Canada between July-August (26% of travellers) and November-December (20%). 

Top factors influencing Mexican travellers choice to come to Canada include destination safety, the opportunity to relax, and a longtime desire to visit. In general, Mexican leisure travellers have a wide variety of vacation activity interests, including both nature-based and city-based activities. Interest is highest for seeing the northern lights, trying local food and drink, and nature parks.  

Travel agents and tour operators play a substantial role in supporting travel from Mexico to Canada, with 83% of potential Mexican leisure visitors indicating that they are likely to use a travel agent to research or book a trip to Canada. 

Mexican leisure travellers prefer to travel fully independently on a trip to Canada (31%). However, guided tours/excursions, either as part of independent travel (24%) or as fully organized group tour packages via a travel agent or tour operator (16%), are also often considered by Mexican leisure travellers.
